Climate Data and Dynamics Lab based in Sydney, Australia

I am a second-year undergraduate student reading mathematics at the University of Oxford, currently undertaking a 3-month research internship supervised by Associate Professor Jan Zika in the School of Mathematics and Statistics at UNSW Sydney.

We are quantifying spurious numerical mixing in ocean models by deriving a simple formula for variance production in a single grid cell. In particular, I am adapting the method to diagnose variance production in the model’s vertical remapping step as well.
